Honestly, I don't care how safe you made it...I've worked in pet stores, this is bad for hamsters, it can cause internal damage. You don't throw a hamster for any reason.

I'm a huge Hamster fan, but I would ask if it's ok before dissing someone/thing. *I mean, ask if the animal is ok and be reassured of its safety*

I work at a pet store too. I've probably dropped 50 hamsters at this point, most of which decided to take a flying leap out of my hands and end up falling 4 feet on to cement floor. None of them have ever been hurt from it though. They usually just stand there like "um.. wtf just happened?" then I pick them up, put them back, and they go over and start stuffing their face with food like nothing happened.
We (my Love and I) play with our pet rats like this all the time. They've never gotten hurt either. Our grey rat, Dust, actually enjoys it.

Yes, I've had that happen once and it upset the customers, they got worried and even accused me of bad handling, even though I've had three hamsters.
Not all hamsters land properly, some get badly injured and after watching two young hamsters die cause their idiot owner dropped them, I get very upset when I see animals used like this. Surely, he could have found a different way to produce the shot.

[freedom of speech, my dear] i've had hamsters jump out of my hands 3 feet off the ground repeatedly (not too smart), and walk away completely unscathed and lived for years after that. this little guy has been tossed a few inches in the air, with a pillow underneath him.
