- Zebra Strip -

Fritzguère released the striped prey and sat, brushing the piled up sand aside with his brush tail. He looked up at the sound of ripping flesh. Ecclesia, in her excitement, had pulled away a strip of the downed zebra. She panted around the flesh, nostrils flared.

"See?" Fritzguère said. "That wasn't hard."

"Mph." Ecclesia slurped up the meat, making sounds of happiness as her stomach rumbled in anticipation. She pulled another piece and looked around while she chewed.

The rest of the herd had moved on, leaving the slow juvenile to the hunters. Waves of sand rose in the distance like mountains, the slopes of sand broken only by two figures in the distance. One was darker and though clearly equine, its mane and tail looked as though they were on fire. The other figure had no mane and its tail was elongated and ended in webbed structures that echoed the large wings folded along its sides. The figures did not move closer, only shifted minutely as they watched the hunters.

"Hey, do you know what those are?" Ecclesia asked.

Fritzguère paused in cleaning blood from the back of his paw to study the figures in the distance. "They're no creatures I know of. Though I think I saw the lighter one earlier. I figured it was some sort of tyrian one of those dracostryx travelers bring us word of."

"Hm." Ecclesia stepped closer to their food source. "Think they'll attack?"

"No, but we should take turns grabbing strips of meat, just in case. Hey! My turn!"

"Foo thloo," Ecclesia said around her third bite.
