Ralph Wolf and Sam Sheepdog were creations of Chuck Jones, appearing in seven shorts from 1953 until 1963; Don't Give Up the Sheep was the first. Chuck's clever twist was to have the two adversaries as blue collar workers who chatted in a friendly manner when not on the clock ("Morning, Ralph." "Morning, Sam.").Ralph does look a bit like Wile E Coyote
