The not-so-good news: Someone else who also made the cut was an air cop who, just a few short months before, finally ruled you out as a suspect in a murder case mainly because the murder victim was such a disagreeable character that there was no one in the surrounding community who did not at least dislike him for SOME reason, and yours weren't sufficient for murder because you distrust EVERYONE equally. And what more, her old man and his wingmates are along for the ride. And the one who decided on the final cut was an eyewitness to the brawl that ended your military career (such as that was) and gave a rather interesting reason for admitting you. So... awkward.
