Description
Here is the second work of Amesha Mithr Arts.A Mithraic altar which so similar to the Christian Altar. But different in many ways!
I try to give a short description of each symbol in the picture and if you want to learn more information about them you can go to our blog in near future.
I start with the Raven. Which is the first step of Mithraic Grades! The Raven has the role of the messenger who comes to entrust Mithra with his mission. He takes the place, as it were, of Mercury, the messenger of the gods.
The Grape bush which presents the symbol for the wine and it's healing and ritualistic aspects of it. In the Mithra's adventures there is point which he gets informed by the Raven which has been sent by Ahura Mazda to sacrifice a bull. And from the blood of that bull comes out some animal and plants. Among them is Grape bush.
The Snake have always accompanies Ancient Persian Gods and it represents, passage of time and also the vitalizing essence and medicine of this creature. And it never represented anything evil.
The Lotus represents the birth of the Mithra. It also a flower which by rising of the sun opens itself and by dusk gets closed. So it also represents the presence of Sun and Mithra.
And as for Cross, explained in the Mithraic monument of Hsian-Fu in China as representing the unity of man from the four corners of the earth, even the encouragement of such a policy of identification on the art of the followers of Mithra is quite understandable.
