None of this seemed to bother his father, though his mother vanished into the night to join the rebellion. Despite everything, Apollyon was a happy child. His father loved him and that’s all he ever needed. The castle workers whispered around him, though Apollyon mostly paid them no mind… until one day, when he was ten years old. He felt as though the fate of the world was on his shoulders. So, one day, Apollyon took it upon himself to never let that future come to pass. He poisoned himself, locked himself in his room, and waited. His father caught word of what he was doing, but was ultimately too late to save the boy. Apollyon died in his father’s arms, smiling as though he had saved the world with his death…
