"Oh, hey there," she greeted him with surprising warmth. "The big boss lady warned me you were coming. She's kinda scary, isn't she? But you know, she really cares."

She was extremely beautiful, but her manner and vernacular told him that her youthful appearance wasn't as ephemeral as that of her matron, who had spoken in a far stuffier, more antiquated fashion.

"Well, the way I hear it, you're going to be here and hanging with us for a while, so you can use the library here as much as you want. There's lots of interesting stuff in here. You don't look like you've done too much reading lately, but... well, there's a reason it's such a classic pastime. So, what can I get you?"
