Description
So on the second day, I hadn't finished, so the teacher said it would be a good idea to take a photograph of it so that I could look at it at home and analyse what else I wanted to do to it. The quality is so shit though - phone camera - old phone camera - as in anitiquated (that a word? should be) - that I don't know why I bothered, you can't see much.I don't think that this is exactly the best technical drawing I've ever done - and with a 12 hour time frame it was never going to be lol - but I think I've accomplished other things, like actually designing my own work, developing an idea from scratch, sustaining that idea through to the bitter end, thinking up the composition, working on A2 for a sketch (didn't ever bother to go past A3..), and researching into artists so much that i'm sick of seeing their fucking face by the end of it. Instead of just unimaginatively copying out a photo of a person for technique practise.
don't think anybody's interested enough to even get to reading this part of the comment lmao, and i always find extra long comments rather pretentious and unnecessary but ermm.. i haven't actually said what this piece is about yet, which i'm sure is vital on some level or other- yaknow, the 'meaning' and what have you. It's a negative perception of make up, not sure if you can see but the gun on the left transforms into lipstick, and kinda .. shoots at the lips and leaves that blood-like trail dripping off. kinda gory, but that was the effect i was after. then the teacher suggested i did that for the eyelash curlers up in the top left hand corner too! i was shocked, she's normally such a lovely lady.. but no; "let's make this eye looks like it's bleeding.." Freak. Anyway, the spraypaint pink is the foundation, kinda hinting that make up can be like vandalism. then you have all these warped faces in the background simply because i had to incorporate links to other artists, namely francis bacon and m.c. escher, losers, the pair of em
But all in all, I think i have a grudge against vanity, especially because i fall victim to it.
