Description
An evil flower that sprouted because it was loved...Well I guess everyone of us has something like that inside them.
Art Nouveau! My first (and probably the last) Mucha-styled painting. I don't feel good with this style, doesn't suit me. And that frame almost killed my hands xD
It was originally something I wanted to try before entering 'Art Nouveau' Contest by *mizzd-stock but I wasn't fast enough with it and I missed the deadline (I'd need another picture for the contest anyway, with het stock used in it).

trivia: I used two photos as reference, one by me - [link] and one by my roommate (a similar one is posted here - [link] ). And that's me on that photo, so this painting is actually something like a self-portrait ^^

I was surprised at the style in this piece, it's a bit different, like you stated, from your usual technique. I especially love the skin, it has a sharp shading feel to it, especially the pinkish grey you used. It's a great position too, very original pose and well drawn.
The border is exceptionally creative, I love how you curled her hair in the border, along with the multicolored, defined strands, the details in the flower, all very well done. The entire picture has a soft, warm grey feel to it, very romantic.

I made the base sketch of the girl few months ago and couldn't decide what to use it for. Then I saw this journal, with lots of thumbs of pictures in 'art nouveau' style. I asked myself "why not?" and so few days ago I added the border and painted it. Looks nice to me, but I still think it's not my style

Już chciałem wykazać się wiedzą, pochwalić się, iż to mi wygląda na pracę pod wpływem sztuki Alfonsa Muchy, a tutaj niespodzianka. Już sam początek Twojego opisu wskazuje na to, iż miejsca na "przechwałki Zala" tutaj nie ma ;] Przeczytałem go do końca i muszę przyznać, iż odniosłem podobne wrażenie - praca świetna, ale zupełnie do Hik nie pasuje. O ile to pierwsze stwierdzenie jest jeszcze całkiem obiektywne, tak to drugie już nie ;] Może to kwestia przyzwyczajenia? Zarówno Twojego, jak i mojego?

Dziekuje pieknie za przychylna opinie. Mnie osobiscie prace w stylu Muchy nie zachwycaja, ale mimo wszystko chcialam tego chociaz raz sprobowac. Jeden z wielu wnioskow: to tylko wydaje sie takie proste @...@ Wsciekalam sie nad ramka, ze dziabam i dziabam tym pedzlem, a konca nie widac. Poza tym za duzo trzba przy tym myslec, zastanawiac sie nad kazda kreska, kazdym kolorem, zeby wszystko do siebie pasowalo. Do dzisiaj mi mozg paruje

To put it in a simple way - 'art noveau' is a style in art which Alphonse Mucha is a father to. It's just like Salvador Dali being the father of surrealism in his epoque 
That journal by *SidelongGlance gathers the greatest 'art noveau' pictures around deviantART. You should catch what's it mainly about by only looking at those thumbs

It's about characters composed into background of frames, circles, arches etc. It's about symetry of background and colours that must perfectly fit each other.
