Description

“I am going to kill him!”

Ivelisse pulled at the gymnasium door to no avail. She pushed but nothing happened. She and her friend Penelope emerged in the Gotham Academy gymnasium-- from the shadows cast by the spectator seats. Ivelisse put her entire weight on the door but they stayed stubbornly closed.

“Are we in school?” Penelope’s frantic high pitched voice echoed in the empty building. The moonlight streaming from the windows turned her blonde hair white. “Why did he bring us here?” She cupped her face. “What if we’re trapped in here all night?” She turned to Ivelisse. “What if they have us arrested for breaking in? What if we go to jail? Or worse! Expelled!”

“You really need to sort out your priorities.” Ivelisse looked around for another exit. “We have to get out of here. I need to go back.”

“What? Why?” Penelope’s voice was an octave higher. “The bank exploded. And there were the crazy super villain guys! Plenty of them had guns, Lisse, and one of them could move metal with her mind. Lisse, are you insane?”

Maybe she was but Ivelisse didn’t care. Her thoughts were on Kage and the demolished bank. The idiot. At that time, she was about to reach into her pocket for her lantern ring when he had caught hold of her. His dark eyes were cloudy with worry. She remembered him fussing over her-- which she found rich considering he too was in danger. The last she saw of him was him hurriedly apologizing and pushing her and Penelope into the shadows. Then, they ended up in the Gotham Academy gymnasium.

“The guy with the skull mask?” Penelope’s eyes widened then she grasped at Ivelisse’s shoulder. “Lisee, he’s a criminal!”

“He’s not with them!”

“Yeah, but he was also stealing money from the bank! I saw him!”

“Whatever.” Ivelisse rolled her eyes, pulling away from her friend. His presence was probably incidental. “What he did was stupid. I mean, we could have helped him. But no he just had to push us into the shadows. He’s going to get hurt or worse killed. Like we could have called the cops or something.” Her mind flashed to her blue lantern ring in her pocket. “He’s not even a hero like why would he do that? It was stupid and selfish and he should have come with us at least! I mean, didn’t he think this through?”

“Why do you care?”

Ivelisse felt her face burn. Kage and she had been spending more time with each other. For totally professional purposes not as friends or anything. But, she had to admit she did enjoy his company more than she’d let on. They way he teased her or called her “princess” or tried to ask about her love life. She looked away quickly from her friend, hoping the latter did not see how red she was. “Because...because you’re supposed to care for people, Penelope.”

She had turned her attention back to the door and was about to push at it again when a voice rang out:

“After all the effort I took to get you two here, you want to leave?”

Penelope yelped as Kage’s figure materialized from the shadows a few feet away from them. She darted behind Ivelisse. “You!” Penelope pointed at Kage. “You stole money from the bank! You’re a criminal.”

“Wow. Excellent observation.” Kage did little to hide the sarcasm in his voice. “That’s some gratitude for the guy who saved your life.”

“I’m not thanking you. You’re a criminal.”

Kage was on his knees. His hair was in his eyes. His shoulders rose steadily with each heavy breath he took-- as if he had just ran a mile. He was tired. Shadowtravelling made him tired. Ivelisse remembered him telling her that. She should have felt sorry for him or at least some gratitude but all she could think of at the moment was “this stupid, stupid boy”. Ignoring Penelope’s objections, she marched towards him. She was angry. Why shouldn’t she be? He acted brashly. She wanted to help and she had the capacity to help. Sure, she couldn’t jeopardize her Blue Lantern identity but that would not stop her. It was reckless to leave her and Penelope in a place they could not leave. Leaving himself there all alone was stupid. He could have gotten arrested...or killed. Her chest tightened at the thought. No. She was not going to lose another person she cared about. Not again.

“Listen, Princess.” Apollo raised his eyes to meet hers. “If you’re going to scold me, it’s not going to work, you’re just as threatening as a cupcake.”

Oh, he was so going to get it now. She knelt in front of him, grabbed his collar, and...kissed him??

Penelope’s frantic jibber jabber abruptly stopped. Everything abruptly stopped. Ivelisse’s hands cupped his face. Kage’s hands gently squeezed her shoulders, bringing her closer to him. Her heart was pounding in her chest. All the anger and fear she had felt prior melted away. A voice in Ivelisse’s mind whispered “this is crazy.”But she did not care. She did not want to care about that. All she cared about was her lips on Kage’s and the fact that he was kissing her back. There was something desperate and almost hungry in the way he kissed her...like he wanted to do this for sometime already. Good. She wanted him to want her. Her fingers brushed at his cheeks, tracing his features-- which were strangely familiar. Then, she was back in a dark closet, arms wrapped around her, and her lips kissing...

Suddenly, Ivelisse was yanked back by a very surprised and very red Penelope. “Oh my god, Lisse! Stop kissing him! He’s a criminal oh my god!”

The other girl then started berating Kage. Saying something like he took advantage of Ivelisse and that she was going to call the cops. Kage, like an idiot, fired back at her, saying “she kissed me!”. To Ivelisse, it was all background noise. Her body was still buzzing. Her hand touched her lips. There was something about that kiss...Ivelisse couldn’t shake the feeling of familiarity off. She could not help but feel like she had kissed him before...

listen lisse and apollo is good shit. lisse and kage is a whole other level of good shit. to apollo, being kage around lisse is the only time he can flirt with her. he loves it. he would not dare to do so as apollo...bc they're "just friends".
i'm not sure if this thing actually happens but this is just self-indulgence really. i saw the pose and just had to.
i hope lisse isn't out of character~ penelope is an npc lol
