Description
The Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt is by far the most famous and largest sphinx in the world. It depicts a reclining lion with a human head and was probably carved from a natural rock in the 4th Dynasty during the reign of Khafre (around 2500 BC). Today the Sphinx is around 73.5 m long and around 20 m high. In the background the Chephren pyramid looms large.
