Description
My last piece of art.Time: ~20 hours.
Goal: make something beautiful and sharpy, also achieve the overall mood.
Tools: Photoshop 7.0, Wacom Graphire XL3.
BTW, since I have an old 15' monitor there is posible problem with colors and tones. I mean, unfortunately, you can see things are not the same as I suppose them to look.
And don't forget to view the full version!

First of all, congrats on a well deserved DD! Overall, I really like your piece. Itβs very uncommon to see an asteroid as a central theme of a space art image, certainly as huge as this one.
I like the way the piece has a traditional art feel to it, as if it was painted on a canvas, which is uncommon as well. Also, the depth of field is great. The only thing that is bothering me about the image is its sharpness - I feel it is too sharp, especially the star field (like when you use the Sharpen filter too much). I'm not sure if this is due to your old monitor or if u intended it. In any case, that's my two cents.
Keep up the great work!

There is NOTHING wrong with this - if you get a better monitor, you'll just be out of the next galaxy, that's all. Awesome, really - keep up the good work. Beats the crap out of my mining colony...Good work!

just remember: if you mine a huge rock too much, a long forgotten alien fungus -- that was probably the former inhabitant of said rock -- will get into your miners' bodies and kill/transform them into monsters that will take over the whole colony in a matter of weeks!

The colours look great at my MVA lcd monitor. If it's an accident, I wish you more accidents like that But honestly, I think your monitor is calibrated better than you're afraid it is.

This reminds me so much of Frank Kelly Freas' style of illustratiion. This is truly beautiful; haunting, yet hopeful.
