I love this wonderful piece to incomparable extent. All the weight among this soft gentleness lies in one sixth of the whole perimeter, yet it tells the whole story. And I seem to feel and know it oh so well...

They're intertwined so well you can't hardly tell them apart! And the soft, sleepy sweetness vs. the fear/sadness/worry/emotion is a nice contradiction.

The lighting on this is really nice. Between that and the color palette, it has a very calm atmosphere, though I find that looking at the expression of the second figure, there's a hint of not-calm. It has an interesting effect, looking at it, kind of precariously balanced between peace and sadness.

After looking at the ref, I think it was a good call to make his eyes open instead of closed. It adds a whole different feeling and meaning to the scene.
