Description
This was for a client/singer of mine who wanted a CD cover doing, she asked me about creating a costume for her to go with her idea of being a lady of nature. She liked the idea of feathers and natural materials mixed with the glamour of a gown.
She found my work after a while of looking online for a MUA/Hair/Stylist, she liked my style because of the strong colourful work I do.
The bottom half of the gown is made up from a bustle, then lots of layers of netting, the back part of the gown is made from 3 separate layers with nearly 200 individually hand made panels that had to be attached by hand. The front 2 panels had 200 peacock feathers that I also attached one by one!!!!!
The body of the dress was a dress the client already had, when she came for the consultation, I chopped off the arms and the ruffles that were around the neckline. I then attached rafia around the neck and arm holes and used a selection of medium and small feather embellishments all over the upper body to create a winged effect.
The client wanted a mowhawk style hair do, so I came up with a softer version of this, by doing 2 small plaits either side of her head and the hair that was left in the middle section running down the back of her head, I created soft waves that I then backcombed till it was as high as I could get it; I also added some hair extensions to the nape of the hair to create more length. To finish, I added some extra scraps of material left over fron cutting out the back panels, I scrunched them up into small bundles and placed them on the sides of the head Asymmetrically.
I will post up some more pics from the session after this.
