www.patreon.com/andreasrochaΒI love painting waterfalls! There is just something about the softness of the white falling water surrounded by rough darker stone surfaces. I used a bright sunlit green to emphasize the grassy path. Another thing that I experimented with was breaking the rule of thirds and pushing the main focal area way up and leaving the whole lower area in low contrast. Most of these things were not planned from the beginning but evolved throughout the painting process.

I don't like rigid sticking to compositional rules. Congrats on breaking the rule of thirds and lovely waterfall

It's interesting how the eyes follow the waterfall all the way down, then back up and finally finds the horse carriage to the right.
