Those look awesome! it gives a great idea on how a hangar feels too. All the military has to do is finish the research on smaller power plants...

Nice work on the detail and shoulder parts. I just wish these mechs could exist and one day when the world is at stake we use them. That'll be pretty sweet with all thee action and mech's around.

I want that one, and that one, and the one over there....

Nice work, I wonder when toys like those will become a reality...

So long as a sniper knows what a knee-joint is, its going to be a while.Β

yeah, sadly.... but those issues can be resolved by taking steps to protect the knee joints themselves (and other areas). I doubt a true combat mech or battle suit would be all that vulnerable to incoming fire.

It would be vulnerable to RPGs, Missles, and Tank shells (for mechs a tank shell is usually equivalent to your usual sniper weapon on a mech.) To be honest for a setting in which legs make more sense than tracks it would have to be a situation which involves extreme terrain (i.e. craters, crevasses, cliffs, ravines; basically terrain which is impassable to tanks.)

well, admittedly, the best size for a mech of any kind is no more then about twenty feet.... about the size of the ones in Titanfall (great game btw).

As for missiles and RPGs, we do have systems now that can intercept them before they strike the hull (like TROPHY, or ARENA). Tank shells obviously move to quickly, and are too small to be intercepted properly, but, in the end it would come down to the operator skill more then the machine itself.

I still want one though

Interception systems still have a chance to fail so its not guaranteed to work, but tank shells can be intercepted though only through soft methods (i.e. deflection/change of angle of impact; the Leopard 4 Evolution has such systems.) As for size the basic mechs seen in Code Geass are probably about as big as you'd want to go, which is around 15-20ft, it would also keep weight relatively low (though mobility would probably be better than raw armor for mechs.)

yeah, the most armor you want is enough to withstand Automatic Cannons, small arms, shrapnel, and concussive force. Although it would also be a good idea and take the A-10 approach for the cockpit and put the operator in a titanium bath 'egg' that's hooked to an ejection mechanism that will send the guy out in a hurry if required. After that the thing self-destructs to prevent capture. You could also have some spaced panels in some sections (ones most likely to take a hit) to diffuse a hit from a shaped charge, but other then that, that's all I got for passive protection ideas.

But that also brings to mind the question of weapons... what do you arm these things with?

Bear arms? Arm bears? Whatever you wanna do

well, in Avatar the AMPs were armed primarily with a 25mm autocannon, or in the Armored Core series they're armed with a variety of lasers, railguns, automatic cannons, etc.

But for these things, what are they supposed to be armed up with?

I wouldn't use anything from Avatar as a reference, tbh those mechs were poorly designed and even moreso poorly armed. In Armored core high powered weapons are cannons and howitzers with back mounted grenade launchers (which are more so like naval cannons) as the top of the "standard" weapon food chain. For anti-infantry and light vehicles a machine-gun or a 20-25mm cannon would be adequate, for actual threats such as MBT's or other mechs, Missles, and large caliber guns would be effective whereas the auto-cannon and mg would not. A 100-120mm would suffice as a sniper cannon or large sniper rifle, 75-100mm for a smaller variant (a flanker type perhaps). Missles would need to be a tandem or even triple warhead design, and would have to be fireable in salvos to try to defeat countermeasures. As for close combat weapons there's not much you could use other than blunt force or some kind of high heat blade of some kind (be it laser or chemical based)
