So here is one of the pages that turned out alright from my book... Now I will jump right into the long and frustrating process I went through...The work from this, and other classes became so intense that I had to cut my work hours drastically in order to keep up. Right when I was finally pulling ahead, I suffered from a major USB failure. So the art department has a file on all the computers called the Artnas Drive for students to save their work. Why did I not save to the Artnas drive? This is because, unlike other semesters, I was not able to log on, and the IT department could not help me with Artnas or my USB (which to this day is still being held hostage). Despite everything, I was once again able to remake my book better than before! This was not to last. I thought that I would be able to send in the document to get printed with out any trouble. However, Lulu ( The website I had my book printed at) had other ideas, and a different version of my book apparently. The file that I sent in was distorted by Lulu, despite being in CMYK colors and 300 ppi. I eventually gave up and accepted my book. The price at least was not outrageous. Unfortunately, not sending in the file before Thanksgiving meant that I would not have my book in time for the final critique. By the time I had got my book ( The literal last day of the semester) I found that Lulu had done a worse job than I thought. Most of the different font types had been turned into on standard font, completely defeating the point of the book. In conclusion, while I am interested in making more books in a similar fashion, I will not be using Lulu, and I will probably be more academic in the way that I create it, seeing as I am a history major.
Sorry about the rant, but this was a project that I wanted to turn out well, but due to outside forces, it was unable to be the version I was hoping for.
major.
