[link]Still my favorite LEGO toy line, Life on Mars had some fantastic alien minifgures that may not have been more posable than a Battle Droid, but were highly unique and better than other aliens LEGO has done (I'm looking at you, Crystaliens. Except the commander, he was a pretty cool guy).
Bored one day, and inspired by my plans for what became this bust (), I took my attempt at sketching how the Martians may look alongside, say, human versions of LEGO Minifigs. So that's how we got this set of characters.
From left to right, we have Vega, an orange-suited guy who was the only one to get multiples in a complete collection of the official sets, Cassiopeia, the only female of the released figures that was a primary character in the quadrio of characters in the official story (found here: [link] ), Laxus, my own original character who found a place in the Dino Attack RPG story (bio here: [link] ), and Arcturus, a rather pale former Martian leader who was both not as he seemed and responsible for making the Orsen Wells War of the Worlds radio scare more fact than fiction in the LEGO Universe.
I love these guys, and I think my illustration does a pretty good job of capturing their character.

Got to be honest: for a second, I thought Cassiopeia was holding a Kohlii staff.
Yes; in terms of just sheer personality, the Martians beat any other alien that LEGO has designed. It certainly helps that there were so many Martians in the theme, and LEGO actually took the time to name all of them and even give some of them bios on the website and magazine articles. Plus, these are the only LEGO aliens to be released in sets that are not shown to be outright hostile towards humans, which definitely sets them apart from all the rest.
Wonder what Earth game, movie, or TV show Laxus is playing on his little gizmo...
