Description
A redraw of Simba's son, Kion. I decided to show my process of inking and painting my character drawings since I've never done it before.
1: First we have the initial sketch, which I've been drawing on animation paper.
2: I ink the line art, starting with black and then coloring the line art later.
3: Afterwards, I lay in the base colors of the characters, starting with the base colors and then adding details as I go along.
4: Now, we get into coloring the line art, which I do above the line art layer using a clipping mask layer in photoshop, a method the guys at bam _animation taught me.
5: At long last, the final stage is where I add shading to the character. In the sketch, you'll notice that I use blue to show the shading. This is to help me with knowing where to place my shadows on the character during this process.
So there you have it, I hope this has given you an idea of how I make one of these character drawings.
