Description When I were a wee nipper I went to see Star Wars at the cinema ( yeah I am that old ) and, as with most people of my generation who first saw it, I was hooked ( although I am not an expert in the wider universe of SW... stopped with Return Of The Jedi with me really) The earliest I can remember drawing anything was drawing scenes from Star Wars, and in particular Darth Vader and his Tie Fighter. I know I am not alone in saying this, but I would credit Star Wars as being the reason I got into drawing. So this is a dedication to good old Darth

Thanks for looking

* I may try and do a tutorial on how to get that reflective smooth surface of the helmet at some point, as it is easier than it looks and can look really effective.

*added the codpiece. I intentionally left it out originally but it only served to make that belt look too high.

Sorry, watermark added due to art theft and prints being sold on ebay. I will try and get around to adding my own.

Batman, too?! That's unforgivable. May they choke in a flood of nocturnal insect predators then.

I like how it seems drenched in light, yet you managed to restrain yourself with the highlighting and reflections. The shiny shiny helmet seems to really inspire some artists, often overdone. this captures the look of episode IV, yet seems kind of aethereal at the same time. If he were kneeling in front of an aryan woman it could almost be a Maxfield Parrish.

You mean like a 3D programme? If so thanks that is a great compliment. Id love to be able to do that sort of art but alas I havent the faintest idea how those guys do that stuff

danioc In reply to AndyFairhurst [2011-05-09 18:39:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, like 3D rendered stuff. Anyways, you own nothing to rendered works with all the quality presented in your works.

I'm not a big fan of Star Wars, if I'm honest. But this is epic!

I am a bit of a Vader-Fan, though. And the Battle-Droids are cool ... stuff like that. It's the whole Chi-slash-Force hokum that puts me off. Other than that...

Maybe I am a Star Wars fan ... just not a die-hard.

But again, epic piece on an epic bad-guy.
