Description
I was drowning. How I got here, I do not remember, nor could I see through the clear, heavy water. My eyes were not used to viewing through any type of liquid. At this time, all I could think of was, "This is going to be the end of me". It was not the first time I thought about death, but now it is most prominent in my mind. I'm going to die. It weighed down my chest forcing more air from my lungs.
Visions flashed before my mind's eye as I relived my past. All the business that I would leave unfinished, all the promises I would never be able to keep, all the times I have felt regret. However, one picture stood out among all others. My mother. Her kind smile made me fell even worse knowing that she would never see her baby again; though, even her image began to fade. My eyes closed as tears mixed with the ever clear water.
I have lost all hope.
Then something tugged at my mind making me open my eyes once again only to see a different vision. Surrounding me where slightly glowing figures reaching out and tugging at my hands, shoulders, legs, and feet. They spoke no words but I felt what their purpose was and who they were. With their touch came knowledge and understandance. Then with that came power, the power of survival.
Next thing I knew, I was walking out of that cold place with my head held high and a new goal set upon my shoulder. The only things left behind were my wet footprints against the hard stone.
And I never looked back.
