Basic Info
Strengths:
- Can breathe and spit fire. The former entails releasing the volatile venom in a spray, which makes the more standard-looking sort of dragonfire, while the other involves actually spitting the venom, creating a more compact ball of flame.
- Exceedingly quick and agile in the air. Aerial battles are going to be in his favor. He will ALWAYS try to take to the air in a fight, as this allows him to hover safely while he murders you with magic. Will generally try to avoid a battle if his wings are damaged, although this is strategy rather than cowardice.
- He's a dragon, dammet. Getting swatted or bitten by him (or stepped on) is probably going to hurt.
- Has excellent vision and good hearing.

Weaknesses:
- Long, skinny body + big wings + little legs = something that isn't moving fast on the ground.
- Most of his bones are hollow and there are numerous helium-containing organs within his body. This grants him exceptional flight capabilities, but also makes him far less powerful in the physical category, both offensively and defensively.
- Keeping in with the helium pockets, he can float in water--but he sure can't swim with any purpose. He dislikes water greatly and won't go in it unless it's reaaally necessary (ie, to pursue someone he really wants to mangle or something).
- His sense of smell is very poor, as something that spends much of its time in flight has little need for a good sniffer. If he doesn't realize you're there and you aren't making stupid noises, chances are he won't be able to sniff you out.
- Scales aren't the best for sensing air currents or other vital flight-related things, so Asmodeus has patches of fur on his body that do the job instead--most notably, the stripes along his body and his chest. Fur is not exactly as good for defense as hard scales.

In-Depth

While sheer size and the presence of many pointy appendages would make one consider Asmodeus's draconic form to be a master of strength, he is really rather weak physically--when compared to other dragons, at any rate. The particular species his form mimics are known as emperor quetzalcoatls. Legged coatls are an oddity among the family, much like legless lizards, but their structure has a purpose. As emperors are among the largest breeds of coatl, they often had trouble finding a clearing within their habitats in which to rest, and possessing arms and legs helped them to clear their own resting grounds.

Of course, humans conveniently clear lands to make their own dwellings, as well--and so it was not uncommon for an emperor to simply drop in for a rest and some delicious human snacks. While some people evaded this fate by building their homes amongst the trees, others decided to deal with this in other ways. Seeing as emperors were too large to fight without massive casualties and moving was too much of a chore, they simply fed the beasts prisoners whenever they came to visit, sating the dragon's hunger and sending them on their merry way, no civilians harmed.

Emperors aren't all bad, however. While their habit of setting swathes of forest ablaze to flush out enough prey to feed them might seem like yet another reason to want to shoot them dead, the trees of their home range are heavily adapted to frequent fire and rely on it to fulfill their life cycle, as do many other native plants and animals.

Of course, that's all relevant to a normal coatl. Asmodeus is a drake and a loser so he mostly just uses his fire to roast people alive and burn your granny's house down.
