Description No doubt that in time Abstergo would get a little suspicious of Lucy Stillman. Warren Vidic had always been skeptical of her loyalty. While also including the fact that he was a Templar, Vidic was a rude, malicious bully. He made very real threats to Lucy and Desmond out of pure malice and when things weren't going right in the Animus projects. As part of the plans for 'world domination' the Animus operation was a way for him to heighten Templar strength and his own personal interests.

When after the Animus burned out for a second time he was convinced that it was part of a plot aginst him. He hinted of knowing that Lucy was two-sided, that she had perhaps a different purpose than the one he hired her to do she served in discreet. Also, he accused Desmond of perhaps knowing of secret ploys he was involved in or that he was in communication with the Assassins. he was right to some degree. Lucy worried about Vidic finding out about Altair and Ezio; with a direct link to knowledge about the Pieces of Eden and other secrets there was a chance that Altair and Ezio may be taken to torture or extract information.

Warren Vidic was a threat that had to be eliminated.

After not having seen teh 'mad scientist' for a few days, Desmond questioned upon this. "What's that dickhead Vidic been up to?"

"Don't worry about it, I've got this covered" was Lucy's reply.

What kind of answer was that? "Where's he been? What's he been doing? Even if the Animi--Animuses--Ani--whatever, break down, wouldn't he still be around? And me. It's not that smart to leave me alone here to let me do whatever. Who knows what I might do without his friggin four-eyed glare on me."

"Oh Desmond," she said with sudden sentiment. "No one knows what you might do next."

They smiled at each other reverently. But he ruined it by asking again about him.

"It'll all come out later," she said rather distractedly and turned to go. "I'm sorry, I've got to go now Desmond."

What's up with her, he wondered.

- - -

Altair was twirling a strand of string in his hands and Desmond was watching him and Ezio was scribbling fiercely in a notebook when Lucy came in. Her clothes were strained with fresh blood, wisps of hair hung loose from her usually tidy hairdo.
Alarmed the guys jumped, each of them alert and ready.

"We've got to get out fast. They know everything."

"Who?" Desmond asked, before he realized what an idiot he was. He didn't need to question it. Abstergo, the Templars, they knew everything. Of course it had only been a matter of time as she had said herself.

"Go, go, go," she whisoered and the four silently slipped out of the room and down the hall. For a few minutes they snuck around to exit the place. "If we're found we'll be killed. Maybe tortured first. All of us."

Lucy led them through a main entrance to an area where efficient cameras were located. When she realized this mistake she brought out a pistol and shot destroyed the cameras. Desmond didn't understand her actions; the big guys would know they were running and their location. He didn't feel like getting caught, nope, not today.

In a stairwell, they met a group of guards who were evidently looking for them because they started shooting and radioing in, but the guards were subdued quickly.

Than she brought them to an underground garage heading for a nondescript black car. it was their lucky break; no one was here. SUddenly gunfire burst out from all sides. Desmond ducked his head and ran for a shield, but thankfully nothing had been aimed at him. With a gun that Lucy passed to him he grabbed an unsuspecting gunner and hit him with the butt of the gun.

He heard heavy steps running into the garage. Yells were followed by gunshots, and bullets decimated vehicles. Shards of stuff that used to be rained down on him and he felt a tiny wave of panic as he hid behind a column that was rapidly being mutilated. how would he get away from here.

As he glanced around quickly for his friends he felt something wet hit him. He decided to take action. With dead accuracy, he carefully hit the people that were aiming at him and he was free to run to the car. As the last man staggered and fell he was jumping in and the car drove backwards, flinging the door out of his grip. He realized he was having difficulty closing it, not just because it was moving but the handle was slippery with blood.

"Ass," he cursed and forced the door shut. When he turned he saw Ezio and Altair readying weapons. Lucy was attatching blades to her forearms and legs, and he noted that he was impressed that she could arm herself and still be driving at breakneck speed. Speaking of speed, when he turned around to look for pursuers, he saw a giant gaping hole in the garage door. So much for subtlety.

"All right back there?" Lucy said to Altair and Desmond in the back seat.

"Yes--no--we're good," Desmond said through gritted teeth as adrenaline started to fade and he could feel the ragged tear in his hand. There was a hole right through his palm, damnit, gushing crimson and fleshy bits were smearing his arm. He could see the broken ends of veins and tendons and nerves peeking out. The pain of it was pissing him off. He couldn't even feel or move his hand now, and every effort with it just sucked monkey balls.

"... bleeding all over," Altair was saying. it was obvious that Des lacked the ability to do anything for it, so Altair ha dbeen ripping his shirt up. He stuffed the bullet hole with a strip of cloth to stop it. A grunt of pain escaped his lips. The rough cloth rubbed against the torn edges like sandpaper. The other strips went to wrapping his hand up.

"Ok where to now?" he asked in an effort to distract himself from the pain.

"We;re going to go into hiding," Lucy replied. "I know a friend in the city who will help us. She's not Assassin but she's trustworthy."

"Uh, good, that's nice," he mumbled before passing out.

- - -

When he came to he found himself in a bed. A dusty smell was in the air. It looked like he was in a boy's bedroom.

With a groan he got up and made a quick tour of the upstairs. His hand was throbbing. It was devoid of people. He heard voices downstairs in the kitchen. His Assassin friends were eating breakfast, and the TV was turned on to a morning news channel. A woman he didn't recognize was making food.

"Huh?" he said.

"Good morning Desmond. You've been out all night Luckily Sharon here is a nurse and she treated you. Now eat."

Numbly he sat down at the table and ate the food that was placed in front oh him without tasting it. He was really groggy. Sharon must have used a knock out drug or sleeping pills.

"You'll be safe here," Sharon said and turned around so he could see her. She was a short, soft looking middle aged woman. "I work at the hospital so coming at fixed times isn't a guarantee. My sons are in college and aren't due back until the holidays."

He noticed that she didn't mention a husband. He was pretty sure she was married at some point; she looked to be the type. As he chewed he thought up of stories about the unmentioned husband--maybe he was dead, a big timer who was threatening a business and got killed for it. Mafia style. Than he was dumped into the ocean.

"The TV," Lucy said to bring their attention to it. The screen displayed Lucy's and Desmond's faces with details appointing their appearances. Apparently they were wanted for the murder of prominent scientist Warren Vidic.

"You killed him?" Ezio confirmed. He didn't seem surprised, just looking for validation that she did it.

"It had to be done. It'll save us trouble in the future."

They sat there and contemplated their situation. The way Lucy said it, it sounded like she had a plan so Des was content with that. He wasn't that great with the brain stuff. Sharon didn't seem at all bothered that she was housing killers.

"Well I'm off to work." Sharon stood up and began gathering things. "Lucy there's some money on the fridge if you need it, any issues give me a call and I'll be back and maybe around 7." She smiled politely and went off on her way.

Altair got up and left the table and one by one the rest of them went too. At last it was just Desmond there. Lucy had gone off to write out her plans as was her way. He felt her kiss linger on his skin.

He sighed and rested his chin on the table. He could feel himself going into a depression down, it was almost physical as his mind went into a deep, dark, downward spiral. It was crap, and he didn't know what to do about it.
