Well, because in Danish, the name Færøerne may reflect an Old Norse word fær, that means sheep!The Faroe islands woke up with a large sheep costume and a letter. If she doesn't wear this costume and meet at the plaza, her embarrassing photo will be released in public. She chose not that to happen.
P.S years later from that embarrassing day, she bravely chose to wear it again because she wants to! She isn't afraid after all, it felt rather "comfortable".
