I didn't really 'get' the action in panel 3.  It would be stronger if there had been more damage to the palette, or amusing if the arrow managed to go right into the thumbhole area, though then your punchline would need changing.  A weird arrow, like a patriot missile, would have been humorous too.

I know this sounds mean, but I actually like this concept.

It's just such a strong element and it's my second favorite metal (fave is steel for punny reasons)!
