"I'm Stella Zhau, and I say, 'Let's do this.'"

It's 11 PM by the time I'm writing this, but it still means it's February 15, also known as Haley Tju's birthday. You might know her as a prominent child voice actor in the cartoon industry. While she is known for many roles, there are two people first associate with her when her name is brought up: Marcy Wu from the Disney Channel cartoon Amphibia, and the subject of this artwork: Stella Zhau from the Nickelodeon cartoon The Loud House.

To celebrate Tju's birthday today, I decided to draw my personal favorite character she has voiced. Stella first appeared on February 2, 2018 in the Season 3 episode "White Hare", where she remained mostly unseen, but it wasn't until August 2 of the same year where she made her first full appearance in the episode "Be Stella My Heart", and ever since then, she found her spot as the first female member of Lincoln's friend circle. As one of my favorite side characters in the show, I really like it whenever she plays a significant part in episodes about Lincoln and his friends, and sometimes, she provides some of the group's best bits.

When it comes to my favorite episode starring her, it's the Season 6 episode "A Stella Performance", where Stella's friends attempt to help her overcome her fear of public speaking so she can present an invention she made at a competition. I really liked that episode not only because it gave some well-developed character growth for Stella, but it also gave some really funny moments, like how Zach's method to help Stella overcome her fear of public speaking had some bizarre side effects, or how Principal Ramirez keeps hyping up Stella's presentation by creating merchandise with her face on it (including a hot air balloon).

But it's not just Stella who should get all the love. As I mentioned a couple paragraphs ago, another role often associated with Tju is Marcy from Amphibia. Tju has really made Marcy such a loveable goofball who often gets too wrapped up in her own world, and just loves to geek out about everything new to her. As much as I love this role, let's not get too off topic, and get back to Stella.

Now onto the artwork!

When making this artwork, I originally wanted to draw Stella to wear a birthday hat, as it's usually what I do when it comes to birthday drawings, but I decided to something unique. I read on the Loud House Wiki that Stella's name is Latin for "star", and since her shirt has a red star on it, that gave me the idea to have her wear a headband with several stars. If you look closely, you'll notice that each of the five stars on her head are color coded after her friends; from left to right: Zach, Clyde, Lincoln, Liam, and Rusty.

Originally, I wanted the stars to spell out "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!", but I had a hard time trying to evenly split the letters so that it covers all stars. I eventually decided to not to include any text since I just wanted to keep things simple.
