Description
"It's another great day, so let's give it our best! Yeah!"It's April 13, meaning it is officially Callie Day! This day is dedicated to the peppy Squid Sister in pink herself, Callie. As a dedicated Squid Sisters stan, I find it in my best interest to celebrate this day the same way I celebrated Marie Day back on March 13. After all, Callie and Marie are destined to do everything together, so it just feels wrong to think that one gets a whole day, while the other is basically ignored. While Marie may be favorite of the duo, I do have to give my share of Callie love as well.
I honestly don't have a lot to say about making this artwork, but I just want to say that it took me only a couple hours to make it, and the title it supposed to be a pun of "alley-oop", a type of move in basketball, and an expression used to raise something in the air (in this case, Callie's being put on a proverbial pedestal to show that today is all about her). Interesting story, I completely forgot today was Callie Day until I decided to open up my Twitter, because I'm still trying to get over my day at the movies yesterday with how chaotic that film Civil War was (my parents are going to see it tomorrow, so I hope they'll like it), and I had to help out my parents with an errand today. I mentioned this on my Twitter a few days ago and, if you don't know what it was, buckle up, because I'm about to get sentimental.
In the early hours of April 8, the day of the great American eclipse (like somewhere between 2 AM and 3 AM), my dad informed me that his father, AKA my grandfather, had passed away. It was pretty heartbreaking to hear that announcement, but I managed to keep my composure because it was inevitable that something like this was bound to happen, and he did live a good life. I didn't announce his death until the day after because April 8, as I mentioned was a pretty eventful day: the United States got to witness a solar eclipse, and it was the day that Nintendo was going to shut down internet services for the 3DS and Wii U. In fact, I made an artwork that was completely dedicated to the latter that I posted on that day. Anyways, back to my grandfather, he lived in a retirement home, and once he passed away, me, my parents, my aunt, and a family friend spent our morning getting his things from the room he stayed in and brought it back to his original home. We're currently making plans for the funeral service, and it shouldn't be too far in the future. I'm definitely going to miss him, but I shouldn't let this cloud my mind too much, because he did live a full life.
That's all I got to say here. Hope you like it, and my apologies if it got a little sad. It can be hard to get over the loss of a loved one, but I'm staying strong.
