Description The Desidianychids (Sloth Claws) are a small clade of Therizinosaurioids closely related to Beipiaosaurus. Most species of this clade are between 0.9 and 0.7 meters in length, but a pygmy species has been measured to only be 0.3 meters long. The Desidianychid depicted in this image is known as the King Sloth-Claw or Desidianychus Rex. Much like Earth Sloths Desidianychids are mostly herbivorous, but the Pygmy or Naked Slothus (Pygmaeus Desidiamimus) and the Masked Sloth-Claw (Personatus Desidianychus) have been known to eat eggs, insect lava, and tree living ants. While Desidianychids are not nearly as slow as their Earth counterparts, they are still among the slowest animals on Mars. Much like Earth Sloths, Desidianychus use their claws to defend themselves, using their elongated necks to reach food instead of their claws. also much like Earth Sloths, many species of Desidianychus let moss grow on their backs for partial camouflage. However, the Pygmy Slothus lacks any fur for the moss to grow on. Pygmy Slothus are a rare sight for a variety of reasons. For one reason, Pygmy Slothus bury into the tree they live in to avoid predators, another reason is that Pygmy Slothus only leave their burrows when they need to defecate, which happens once a week, an impressive feat for their size. There are only 5 species of Desidianychid, the King Sloth-Claw, the Masked Sloth-Claw, the Pygmy Slothus, the Flagtail Slothus, and the Hooting Sloth-Claw. The Desidianychids are split into 2 groups, the true Sloth-Claws, and the Sloth Mimics. the Verudesidianychids (True Sloth Claws) have tails, longer necks, and longer claws. The Desidiamimids (Sloth Mimics) lack tails, have shorter or more broad claws, and shorter necks, making them resemble Earth Sloths more so.

This creature was one of my earliest speculative evolution creatures, simply called a Slothonychus, so think of this as a heavy reboot for it. I am much more fond of this design than the original.
