My latest reference for my sona, Eclipse!Anyway here’s some of her lore, if anyone is interested:
Eclipse was born to a wealthy, scholarly NightWing family who provided her will all the scrolls she could ever hope to read. And read she does; it‘s more likely than not that she’ll have her snout buried in a scroll at any given time, including during all her classes at school. Her teachers let it slide, though, since she still earns nearly perfect marks in all her courses. What other dragons don’t know, however, is that, as a mind reader, she uses scrolls to distract herself from getting caught up in the inner lives of others around her. She doesn’t really experience any moral qualms about invading the privacy of others and, feeling bored with her own life, is fascinated with “normal” dragons’ hopes, dreams, and misfortunes. She figures that it’s okay to listen in to others’ thoughts as long she doesn’t repeat the information to anyone else, reasoning it to be sort of like doctor-patient confidentiality. But sometimes being surrounded by dozens and dozens of chattering voices (both real and thoughts) is too much for her, and reading is the easiest way to cope. She doesn’t have many friends since, in addition to being at the top of all her classes and slightly awkward, she’s not great at keeping track of what she’s supposed to know and she heard in other dragons’ heads. This obviously spells for some social havoc whenever she lets something slip— but she does rather like using her power to undermine the few dragons that actively mess with her for their own entertainment. And then, of course, her prophetic powers just make things even more confusing, and without writing anything down she loses track of what’s her memory of the past or her memory of a vision she had. When she’s not listening to others’ thoughts, looking into the future, or reading, she enjoys writing stories inspired by some of the more outlandish things she’s seen in the future. She’s even written a story about herself, in which she had animus magic, a secret dream of hers. Everyone’s always repeating how bad animus magic is- how it’s too much power for one dragon- how it will corrupt you and siphon away your soul. She’s read about Albatross and Darkstalker— she knows what can happen. But she’s confident that she’d be able to use it responsibly and make the world so much better. All the animus dragons she’s learned about were so... narrow-minded. She’s smarter than they were, and if she had magic, she’d be able to prove it.
