"'Neath the cloudy sky he laid, upon a bed of grassblades, Fyrensawl held vigil. He was sprawled upon his belly, limbs awkwardly stretched out. He was a nest at the moment, the impromptu resting place for his tuckered out siblings. They slept prone upon or around him, their tiny bodies almost flush against his own. A full day of playing had drained them at last of their youthful vigor. To his surprise they hadn't made it till the sunset. They would miss it this time.

As the vibrant rays of orange and yellow streaked through the dim grey of the clouds, Fyrensawl turned away from the beautiful sight and instead focused his gaze upon the little buck nuzzled in his chest. Drearenrot still had a smug smile upon his slumbering face, likely basking in his victory for claiming the 'best napping' spot' after a short tussle with his littermates. For a moment, a dark haze glazed Fyrensawl's eyes; thoughts too gruesome to mention swirled just behind them. And then it disappeared and the sandy buck was in the present once more.

The future could be worried about later. Now was the time for rest."
