I am not sure if this really Is brèche de roland. Since I am quite sure that brèche de roland is in the pyrenees, and it seems unlikely there are two.

Do you happen to know if the same story is behind the name?

The one I know was created when roland tried to flee, was stuck against the rock face, struck it with his sword, and thusly created the breche as an escape route.

Yes this is the same legend behind these too brèche even if the real story happen in the Pyrénées...

My father yused to told me this awesome story when I was a kid, of course the brèche de Roland in Pyrénées is most famous than the little ons ine the Cantal which is smaller !

Je n'habite pas si près que ça (en IDF, en fait) mais j'y suis allé souvent en vacances d'été; j'aime beaucoup l'Auvergne et le Cantal en particulier.

Comme tu avais mis des photos de Corrèze, je t'imaginais par là-bas
Suis d'accord avec toi, toute la chaîne des puys, du Puy de Dôme au Sancy puis dui Plomb du Cantal au Puy Mary, ces vieux volcans donnent une ambiance bien particulière et très attachante
