I caught a rat. I feel the same way as she did at that moment. Disgusting creature, hated by all, yet almost never noticed. She was trapped by my hand, and I, myself, was trapped as well, again, by my own doing, although in a different sense. It was nice. We were both afraid. She was soft and warm, and I haven't felt so close to someone, so understood in years. I let her go. I hope she can feel free. I can’t. I never will, it seems.
