Description
Garden stretched his arms high above his head as the morning sun greeted his face. He groaned a bit, not motivated to wake up completely, but he knew he had a lot that he wanted to do that day. He sat up in bed and rubbed his eyes, and snatched up his bone, which flared up with green flames the second his hand was placed on it. He stood up and he cringed slightly at the surprisingly cold wooden floor his feet planted onto. He headed out of his room and closed the door behind him.
“Good morning, Garden!” Julia’s chipper voice asked. Garden turned his head to see the cheerful trainer heading down the hallway. She flashed him a smile as she carried a red cardboard box crammed full of papers. “How are you doing, buddy?”
Garden smiled a bit in return. “I’m doing fine,” he responded, tightening the grip on his bone. She seemed to always ask how he was doing as of late.
“If you need to talk, you know where to find me,” she said, giving him one last look before she disappeared into her office. Garden loosened his grip and relaxed his shoulders. A whole slew of crazy events had occurred to him the past few months…
He entered the kitchen and sat down at the table, reaching for an apple out of the fruit bowl. His eyes widened as he noticed Mannifred was sitting right across the table from him. “M-mannifred!” he said. He observed the small Ralts/Snorunt. He looked relaxed, like he held no grudge towards Garden for the crimes he committed against him.
“Ah, good morning, Garden,” Mannifred said with a slight smile. “I hope you’re doing well?”
Garden was silent for a second. Should he bother addressing the elephant in the room? He hadn’t had a chance to talk with Mannifred about how he and two others tortured Mannifred for being a reincarnated murderer. Yes, that’s how absurd this whole situation was. “Uh…” Garden said, quickly clearing his throat. “Well, I’ve been doing much better… just trying to keep busy, as you know… How’s Rolanda?”
Mannifred gives a bit of a chuckle. “She won’t let me out of her sight. The only reason why I was able to come out here was because I knew she was asleep. I’ll have to return to the bed before she wakes up or else she’ll have a fit, but… I still love her no matter what.”
Garden purses his lips together, grabbing hold of the apple he was reaching for and setting it in front of him on the table. Guilt settled in his stomach. He knew that he caused Mannifred and his girlfriend Rolanda pain, but it didn’t really settle in until he said that.
“Mannifred, I… I know I may have said it before, but I’m sorry…” Garden said. “I was only motivated by revenge…”
Mannifred’s smile fades and his gaze drifts to the table in front of him. He shakes his head slowly. “No, I… I understand the pain. After all, I… murdered your sister. Anybody would be upset about that. And if I knew I could take revenge on someone who wronged me, I would.”
Garden’s gaze also drifts to the table. He was at a loss for words. He wished he could have taken back everything he did, but it wasn’t like you could relive a day, right?
“Well, I oughta get back to Rolanda,” Mannifred said, standing up from the table. “And, well, if you do ever want to talk about anything, I’m all ears.” He gave a small nod then headed back towards the rooms.
Garden gives a sigh. He releases the grip he had on the apple. He just then realized that he was holding onto it so tight that his nails dug little lacerations into the apple’s skin, revealing the pale white flesh beneath it. He picks it up and takes a quick bite of it, then quickly gets up from the table and heads outside. He walks with a quick pace to the usual training grounds. He intended to perfect Close Combat, and he set his sights on a large boulder that would prove as a great target. He rushed at it, striking it several times with his fists until they glowed with a reddish light. From all of the attacks, the boulder broke off into several large pieces, collapsing to the ground in its shattered state.
Pleased, Garden noticed that it was almost halfway through the day already, judging by the position of the sun in the sky. He knew he had other things to do. He pulled out a book he had been reading and took a seat under the nearest tree. He read through a few chapters before he heard some commotion. Craning his neck to see out to the main ranch area, he saw a pastel pink snivy, presumably a four-trait, arguing with two other four-traits. Garden recognized all of them. They were a family. The pink Snivy was the other two’s child. She looked very upset, and he could see that she was crying. The parents were shouting and pointing fingers at her. Garden couldn’t quite make out exactly what they were all arguing about, but it seemed like there was no point. The pink Snivy turned away and sprinted in his direction, passing him apathetically and disappearing somewhere in the woods. The parents looked exasperated, and they seemed to give up and turn into the ranch house.
Well, that was certainly an interesting exchange, but Garden felt like family matters like that were hardly any of his business. He closed his book and stretched, noticing that he had been reading for quite a few hours. He saw that the sun was now setting, and he wished to grab some fresh fruit from the trees before he turned in. He plucked various fruit from the trees around him and he headed back inside the ranch house. He kept to himself as he headed to his room and snuggled up on his bed. It was a productive enough of a day, but he felt he should try even harder tomorrow at training.
