Description I think the most surprising part of the game was some five turns before I was going to declare war on, well, everyone. Mehmed II must've been either gutsy or desperate or foolish or a combination of all three, but he decided to declare war on Qin Shi Huang. This in turn meant that he and his three vassals were now all at war against Qin and I and our vassals. It certainly made things a whole lot easier for me, because now I got to have Qin as a war ally instead of enemy.

The Netherlands, Zululand, and Mongolia I completely defeated soon enough. They had been withered away during so many of my previous attacks on them centuries ago, and here I came to finish them off. The Ottomans, however, did not go down so quickly. Mehmed had two monstrous stacks of cavalry and almost managed to wipe out one of my shorter stacks of tanks with one of them. But still, I soon raced after his cities as quickly as I could. I completely conquered his empire and won the game in July of 1899.

That highest score and the game save files are sadly no longer there. My computer's harddrive went bad and had to be replaced in March 2008, and those files weren't among those I had saved. But the memory of such an adventure will live on here until... I don't know when.
