Description Not my usual kind of stuff, but why not.
Story: After the WW3 bombings, atomic winter has set in. Nobody knows the proportions of the disaster, yet some rumours say that not very far there are lands which haven't been afflicted so badly. Using steam power, an engineer transformed his former family home into a lucrative(albeit slightly dubious) business, the Code Red Inn, offering a last stop for those who venture into the dangerous area beyond it.

I used the house as a base, the rest is painted.

Edit: i replaced the file with another that has been cropped a bit to fit the aspect ratio rule, which i somehow missed.

I had a nuclear war idea in mind at first but looks like it's been done. in fact browsing through the entries most scenarios have been done.
ive done a lot of apocalyptic art but I've never had such small amount of inspiration ^^

I didn't look through the entries for that exact reason, i was sure whatever i'll think about was already done but i didn't want to be discouraged from the start After all, the original photos seem to be leading to some obvious routes; i mean everybody's first thought would be to present the house in ruins, the family wearing gas masks etc.

Wow, gorgeous. The colors are obviously amazing. I love the mix of trees/snow with such an industrial in. It's very effective in creating a dark mood!
