Master Engineer checking personally, that mechanical heart of his city beats properly. When you are ruler of literally a giant machine, you better understand, how it functions, or otherwise you can end in quite a steamy situation.
Actually all of this bird-people know, how their city functions. It doesn't matter, if they are chemist, artist, or police officer, they all are able to maintain most important parts of this mechanism.

Though I'm rather pleased with designs of character and mechanical heart, i still think to remake them a little bit later, so they look more appealing.
