Description Vliticus hadn’t been out on a good hike in several weeks, and couldn’t stop thinking about how much he wanted to. Today was to be perfect for just such wondering. Eventually, his hike took him through a snow-covered meadow. The young wind dragon was light enough that he only sank as far as his ankles into the snow with each step, though he was beginning to get into a patch where it became softer and deeper. It started to reach his knees, slowing Vliticus down and making him lift his paws higher to clear the surface. He was just about to take another step when the snow beneath his supporting leg suddenly fell away. Vliticus yelped in surprise as he dropped another couple inches into the snow, his furred chest preventing him from sinking farther. Now that his weight was spread over a wider area, Vliticus could carefully lift his leg out of the hole. The yellow dragon gently shifted himself over and peered into the void beneath him. He could hear trickling noises now that there was a place for the sound to escape. A glimmer of light twisted in the darkness, dancing back and forth around the hole. He was over a stream. The dragon extended his wings and conjured a weak whirlwind to lift him out of the snow completely. Vliticus glided backward and landed on the firmer snow along the riverbank. It was now clearer for him to determine the streams path beneath the snow. There was a very subtle difference in appearance that Vliticus hadn’t previously been aware of. He took some time just to sit and observe this new discovery; both to marvel at how this natural tunnel had occurred, and to determine how best to get around it. Following the trail back into the woods until he could find a tree that bridged it was a possibility, but it was a long ways out of the way for just this one stream. The yellow dragon finally made up his mind on what he should do. Vliticus stood with his wings partially unfolded, gathering air beneath them. He then snapped his wings open and quickly thrust them back, blowing thick clouds of snow into the air as he launched himself completely over the obstacle. On the opposite side, Vliticus stretched his front legs out and buried them deep in the snow before immediately leaping back into the air several more times with less and less energy. He finally expelled the last of his momentum by running it off. With a chuff, he shook some snow out of his fur and looked back over his shoulder at the tracks he’d made while landing. The yellow dragon then turned his attention upstream of his discovery and made the determination to find out where it originated.
