greg shields from Arabia came to america for a chance to live a better life. he joined an underground secret agency called the shade division. while on a mission to intercept Oscorp and see what they were up to. when he entered the lab, he discovered that they were trying to re-create the incident that created spider-man, except they were splicing spiders with DNA of other animals. however, there was a glitch in the system that caused the containment units holding the spiders to explode, causing greg to absorb the energy and go into a coma. 4 days later, greg woke up and discovered he had the powers of spider-man… and the abilities to see in the dark and detect bio-electric signals. greg, confused and nauseous, escaped the shade division’s HQ and wandered out to action city. Spider-man eventually tracked him down and talked to him, convincing him to come with him to Freedom tower, where he was trained and given the spider-man costume of Ben Reilly to become another spider-hero. greg, using his powers to fight crime and aid the shade division became agent spider
