Flightless
I’ve been alone
For oh so very long
And no matter how hard I try
All I want to do is cry

You left me to fend for myself
Didn’t so much as get me help
What was your real plan?
Was it for me to end up dead?

All you left me with
Were these clothes

Tattered rags

I was so cold
All alone
In those burnt out woods
So lonely

You had burned my face
With your flames
And let me live
For how long?

My face is scorched
My legs are black
I’m in pain
All the way across my back

You had planed to take my life
Along with my friends and kin
But I had escaped your wrath
But now I lie in a bed

I see the bars
That cage me in
While people walk
Out and in

I can see out a window
I see the endless sky
But no more is it my home
I can no longer fly

I’m now grounded
Stuck in this cage
My wings are clipped
I can’t lift my head

Because of you
