'Denamu is a forest guardian and rival to Mondune. Its antlers -carved from jade- are the source of its powers and with its red eye, it can see into the future and recall the past.'

Another legendary from the bootleg games Pokemon Diamond and Jade. When researching these games, I noticed that other people compared this guy to the forest guardian from 'Princess Mononoke' and surely enough I found that the illustrations for this legendary was a direct rip from the character. So I decided to give this guy a complete redesign while still keeping certain details intact.

Denamu's name is a combination of the last two letters in 'jade' and the ending syllable of the Maori name for greenstone (a type of jade), 'Pounamu'. The idea to make them a forest guardian is meant to be a reference for the the previously mentioned character from 'Princess Mononoke.'
