Description This is my character from my friend's murder mystery party last year; Sawbones the Doctor. And this is her story:

(Possible spoilers if you plan to play the pirate themed murder mystery party thing)

She's really interested mental illnesses, but her curiosity about the human psych isn't all that appreciated by the ship's crew. They really only want her to heal wounds and do other doctor-y things. The ignorance of some of the crew really puts her on edge sometimes, so she was glad to finally be able to spend some time with "civilized" people after they landed on an island with several other ships. The natives were really quite interesting too, and she put some of her attention into studying them and searching for any possible mental illnesses, but most of her attention went to getting a royal pardon for being a pirate. Once she finally obtained that, she had met all her goals and made plans to head to the Royal College of Physicians right away.

Some suspicion surrounded her about the murder of her captain. She was not very fond of the captain, and believed him to have a mental sickness that was accompanied by delusions of power and grandeur, often remarking that he was a danger to the people around him. When confronted about it by one of the other pirates on the island, she confessed that she had lied about the autopsy because she had been under immense pressure. Suspicion was finally lifted from her, and she relaxed, proud of herself for being able to lie so smoothly about her crime. Really, it had been for the captain's own good. He really was a dangerous man, and poisoning him had been a quick and clean way of dealing with the problem. It had been a stroke of good fortune that some unknown person had slit the captain's throat and she had been able to fake his autopsy. Although one of the crew members was suspicious about the validity of the autopsy, Sawbones managed to use that to her advantage and throw suspicion onto the other people in the crew.

The dreaded black spot was rumored to have been going around, a sickness that would kill the infected person within a few days unless they passed it on to someone else. Those with the black spot were cunning, but Sawbones was quick on her toes and could spot those affected from a mile away. They acted shiftily, a little too eager to talk to other people. It was clear to her that they planned to pass on their affliction onto someone else and rid themselves of the strange "curse".

Befriending several of the more cultured people who had been shipwrecked, she boarded one of the boats with them and made her way to London to start a successful new career, her dark secret left behind along with the body of her former captain.

(End spoilers)

No, but really, I almost panicked when Katherine almost guessed my real secret. Telling her a fake secret was a really clever move on my part if I do say so myself. I managed to convince her that I didn't want to physically show my secret to her in case she was infected with the black spot (trading information would also result in trading possession of the black spot). I'm rather proud of my acting skills on that one. It was also really easy to avoid getting infected by the black spot. I could tell right away when someone had it since they were really insistent that I trade information with them. I must say that most of the people I could read like an open book, but I must commend some of the others for managing to surprise me when everyone's secrets were revealed at the end.

For some reason, no one suspected me. I'm rather proud of myself for pulling this off, since one of the characters' secrets threw suspicion onto me quite clearly. I came up with a fallback alibi when Katherine confronted me about the captain already having been murdered before his throat was slit. It was completely improved, but once I had come up with it, I managed to convince several other people that this was what I was keeping secret from everyone. In conclusion, I think I made a very good murderer.

My shirt was kinda big on me. Like, 3 sizes too big on me. But it looked pretty pirate-y anyways. And I really like my pirate vest too. The short skirt and heeled boots probably wasn't something that would make much sense working on a ship, but I figure that as a doctor, Sawbones wouldn't have to really do much physical work anyways.
