Description I CAN DRAW LAVA KIND OF OMG OMG OMG.

Soooo I was listening to the How to Train Your Dragon audiobooks because they are amazingly awesome [and David Tennant's voice is kind of super dreamy]. And this scene occurred at the end of How to Twist a Dragon's
Tale:

HICCUP SURFING DOWN AN EXPLODING VOLCANO'S LAVA ON THE BACK OF A DRAGON.

It was too awesome. I could NOT pass up the opportunity to draw it.

---

I know, vikings don't have blue jeans. Oh well. Also, the windwalker looks kind of way too badass to actually be a windwalker. Oh well.

Book hiccup is way easier to draw than movie hiccup. So is book toothless.

How to Break a Dragon's Heart?

I've read it already. And I do love it, but NOTHING TOPS LAVA-SURFING

Cool! X3
I love that part of the book too, in fact, I was planning to make a drawing of it to
You version looks good, I like the colors! Though, yes, the Windwalker looks too badass XD

ApollotheJust In reply to SweetReichel [2010-11-22 04:29:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeahhhh it started off as a doodle and I wasn't really thinking about what kind of a dragon he was supposed to be riding. x{D

Thank you, though! I was VERY pleased with this, considering it was my first attempt at lava.. ever...

SweetReichel In reply to ApollotheJust [2010-11-22 22:50:38 +0000 UTC]

Oh I understand you... Sometimes you start just a doodle and you don't get obsessed with details, but in the end it's such a good drawing that you wish you could change just a trifle of it.

So well, to be your first attempt at lava, it's really cool! I think I have never colored lava, but I think I would not drsw it that good XD

Thank you... yeah, lava isn't the easiest thing to draw. I just pretended that it was water, except more gloopy and less watery, and then yellow and orange and shiny. x{D

No problem I'll follow your example if I ever get the chance to draw lava (or maybe I'll just try and draw lava randomly XD)

I tend to avoid drawing difficult things unless I absolutely cannot avoid doing so... like in this. x{D

OneWingedMuse [2010-11-21 17:50:21 +0000 UTC]

wasn't he trying to outrun the lava? not actually ride it?

though i do remember at some point he gets badly burned so maybe i was wrong.

ApollotheJust In reply to OneWingedMuse [2010-11-22 04:29:18 +0000 UTC]

He was originally, but then [at the point where he gets burned] the lava catches up and he has to surf the rest of the way down.

Which was awesome as all hell.

YOU'RE WELCOME~

Yeah, totally That book in general was just awesome!

Absolutely not XD

(i think the books are better than the movie )

ApollotheJust In reply to darkstarsfire [2010-11-22 08:04:07 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, I love the books and movie both. In different ways, but equally.

But yeah... nothing is more awesome than lava-surfing. Just.. nothing.

darkstarsfire In reply to ApollotheJust [2010-11-22 13:23:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but I prefer the books because in the movie... they didn't add Old Wrinkly!!! :0 (that is a main reason XD) OR Camicazi... she's way cooler than the girl in the movie!!

Totally. Windwalkers rule

YOU CAN'T KEEP A BOG-BURGLAR UNDER LOCK AND KEY!!

Camicazi's escape attempts in book 3 are hilarious. x{D Gotta love her.

I do like Astrid, though. Just not in the same way.

NEVAR!

Yeah XD I lol'd at the Fat Consul in the bath

Ah.

Fishlegs in the movie was... horrible o.o (i really freaked out when I saw Fishlegs )

ApollotheJust In reply to darkstarsfire [2010-11-29 07:25:26 +0000 UTC]

I don't know. I see the movie and the books as totally different entities.. like, the movie fishlegs isn't the book fishlegs, and I like them both [movie fishlegs had an awesome line about plus five speed that gained him like ten jillion coolpoints in my book]. I love the movie and the books, but most of the characters are different.

Like movie toothless is adorable and badass and awesome, but book toothless will always have a special place in my heart for being EXACTLY. LIKE. MY. DOG. [In a really not-good way x{D]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

darkstarsfire In reply to ApollotheJust [2010-11-29 13:29:43 +0000 UTC]

Haha, I thought that the movie Fishlegs was funny (especially the +5 HP parts XD) but it seemed like a totally different character, I think they should have named him something else because... yeah... (bad explanation )

I love the book Toothless! He's so funny and the movie Toothless is cute too, almost like a cat :3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ApollotheJust In reply to darkstarsfire [2010-11-30 06:43:24 +0000 UTC]

I think they chose the name as an homage to the books, but he wasn't really intended to be the same character.

Although the asthmatic squinting wobbly-kneed reptile-allergic book Fishlegs is certainly lovable. x{D
