This is a marvellous study. The tightness and fine wrinkles in the inside curve of the hip; the proper chords of muscle on the neck; there appears to be horizontal lines on the neck; and an ashen face. I would love to know if I am getting the details correctly. She seems to have a sorrowful look. The knees drawn up and arms crossed is an emotional defence as much as a physical one. Many things could have happened to her, but the hair seems unusual cast out; that is a puzzle to me. Could she have slumped to the ground or is it an artifice showing disorder. She looks mid thirties to very early forties. The hands are not clenched giving the sense that the situation is not so terrible. One thing that I wonder about too is the high tension in the neck and certain degree of discomfort but the two are incongruous. The detail otherwise is quite impressive.
