Description      I saw that girl from down the street this morning. God, what was her name. . . Lilly, I think. Anyway, she was walking in the rain. She was holding her umbrella carefully out in front of her. It was upside down. I strolled up to her, cool as you like, and said "Hello." I tried to make sure she saw my umbrella.
"Hello, John." she replied, not bothering to stop. "How are you?"
"Er, I'm fine. How are you?" I replied, extra emphesis on the you.
     "I'm marvelous! It's a lovely day for a walk, isn't it?"
Actually, it was a terrible day for a walk. It was raining out, and it made my trainers all squishy on the inside. "Never better."
We walked a little bit in silence. Then I asked. "What exactly are you doing?"
"Taking a walk, you silly boy." She replied, like it was the most stupid question ever.
     "I mean with your umbrella."
She stopped walking and turned to me. "What are you doing with yours?"
     "I'm using it properly."
Lilly looked at her umbrella and then to mine. Then she examined my face. "Why are you so dry under there?"
It was really hard to keep a straight face, talking to this girl. "because if you hold it this way, it stops the rain from getting on you."
"you see, you are the thrid person to tell me that, and every time I do it, I have a ton of water dumped on my head."
"well, try to dump the water out before it's over your head. Ant then next time, put it over your head before it fills with water." I explained.
She looked at her umbrella, shrugged and lifted it over her head. I hadn't thought it possible for her to become any more wet, but I guess I was wrong.
     "Bugger." She said.
"Well, on the plus side," I said slowly, "if you keep it like that, you won't become any more wet."
She smiled at me. "Thank you John. I'll see you later."
I nodded. "Sure." I turned to walk back to my house. She really is a bit dotty.
