Queen Aleena Soundbreaker

Age: 38

Occupation: Queen (Full-time)

Personality: The noble, cautious queen of the Crystal Kingdom, Aleena is calm in the face of opposition. Mindful about public appearances when holding court, she will use her calming demeanor to relax someone or to empathize fully with someone. Yet, within the calm, somewhat cold mask of the Queen, Aleena is highly prideful, with a strong hatred of any crooked misdeeds, and can’t stand bullies. She’ll often switch her demeanor in an instant when she sees either a council member bullying someone in a less fortunate position, or when someone tells something amoral. Aleena will fight whoever is harming someone no matter what she is doing/wearing, much to the detriment of her tailors/other council people.

Aleena typically doesn’t care about what others think about her, even in the worst situations. Aleena is a strong advocate for nature in general, looking towards more eco-friendly techniques to the detriment of profit. Businessmen don’t enjoy seeing Aleena at the World Council for this reason.

Her switches happen when she sees injustice in general, upsetting most of the people around her. Thanks to Slipstream whisking her away from her home, Aleena has learnt to be calmer than she truly is. Not a lot of people know of this (thanks to her father covering up her ‘kidnapping’ from the other countries), and thus assume that Aleena is still the terror that she was younger.

This doesn’t mean she has no sense of humor. In fact, Aleena’s humor tends to fall in the schadenfreude spectrum: Aleena will laugh in the face of another’s misery. Aleena’s calm demeanor causes people to think Aleena is laughing at them, when really, she was just laughing at what had happened for the person to wind up being humiliated.

Aleena loves her children dearly, and wishes the best for all three of them. She’ll even go against royal traditions to allow them the chance to enjoy their lives beyond the castle walls. As such, she doesn’t control them as much as people think. Which causes people to think she’s a terrible mother.

Strengths: Aleena is a headstrong, yet regal person to interact with. She’ll keep her calm for the most disastrous of situations, even when things are falling apart around her. Aleena’s constant aura of tranquility allows her to bring everyone to attention so that she can facilitate commands. As much as she dislikes her position, Aleena is exceptionally good at organizing and creating plans on the fly – from managing a kingdom to figuring out what she’s planning for dinner, Aleena always makes good plans. Aleena is also very articulate with her words, whether she wants to dispel violence or create it, Aleena can make an army rise out of whatever she says.

Another strength of Aleena’s is the ability of wind. She can control/manipulate wind through both her magical prowess and her speeds. While not the strongest of all the elemental magics, Aleena can use her magic to make her ‘faster’ than normal. On top of this, she can create tornadoes and dust-storms to distract/destroy whatever is holding her. She’s also able to use her magic to cut through everything and anything, no matter if it’s solid concrete or reinforced steel. Aleena tends to use this when she doesn’t have any weapons on hand.

Weaknesses: Aleena often hides her emotions, to the detriment of others around her. No matter how calm she appears, it hurts her to try and silence her emotions in dangerous situations. Aleena also has a hair-trigger temper, and often lashes out at people who have upset her suddenly. While she has managed to rein in this bit of her personality, the instant she unleashes it Aleena becomes far more hostile. Her quills automatically become spiky when she’s in this state, and will not calm down unless it’s someone she recognizes as a friend. Aleena hates being the leader in every situation she’s in, and will oftentimes try and find ways to give up her position to someone else. Aleena is also extremely sharp with her words, to the point of making others feel like Aleena’s above them all.

Aleena’s ability to control the wind cannot work completely in a vacuum. When she cannot create the wind around her, Aleena would often adapt to her skills on the sword to help her. However, if she cannot do that, Aleena is next to useless in battle. Her anger also overrides her ability to control the wind – if she does not calm down at all within the next few hours, she’ll accidentally create a hurricane with her powers. On top of this, Aleena can cause serious damage if she lets her emotions out of control, thus the sealing of her powers behind a mask.

Hobbies: One of Aleena’s hobbies is being a connoisseur of food. It’s the one thing she never had the chance to experience inside the castle – having the same large meals for both guests and the castle’s people alike. Having such a small meal is great to her, and she often critiques and analyzes the food she’s eating on the daily. Other hobbies include:

Cooking: Aleena learnt how to cook from spending days outside of the castle. Often doing it against her chef’s objections. She isn’t that skilled at it, yet she enjoys making food for her family. One of her most prized meals is chili dogs.
Exploring: Aleena enjoys taking time outdoors and enjoying nature in any way, shape or form. She loves nature in general, and Slipstream taking her has allowed Aleena to feel free within her role. Aleena also enjoys being able to see the world with her love and children, and doesn’t mind taking hikes and seeing the sights of the world she lives in.
Music: Aleena enjoys music, and loves to play any kind of instrument she can get her hands on. Whether it’s a guitar, a piano, or something Aleena has not known to be a musical instrument, Aleena enjoys learning how to play and understand the range of every musical instrument she comes across.
Likes: Slipstream, Sonic, Sonia, Manic, Tails, (Children in general), food not approved by the Council, being able to take charge, Freedom, her father Alwin/Avarice

Dislikes: Losing her family, taking charge for too long, being trapped, not seeing her family/children, any Council member who restricts/harms others.

Backstory: Born to Alwin Soundbreaker and Lady Aria Urchin, Aleena had spent most of her child life inside the Obsidianna Castle. However, her birth came at a cost; Lady Aria died from complications during childbirth, leaving Alwin to raise his only daughter. Doing his best to juggle a full kingdom along with his daughter, Alwin became cruel to anyone who even dared to step out of line, raising taxes when it became clear that debts weren’t being paid, and even demanding the people to dress more elegantly to him. This is where he became known as Avarice the Mad.

However, to Aleena, Alwin was the best father a princess could ever have – he often made sure to read her bedtime stories, did his best to help Aleena with her homework, and even made sure to arrange everything in her life so that she wouldn’t feel the strife down the line. Aleena was mostly raised as a (literal) little princess, which led to her anger issues that Aleena became notorious for. As such, a load of people had thought of Aleena as not Avarice’s moral chain, but as his right-hand hedgehog.

Nobody wanted to stop their reign of terror, nor wanted to try and help Aleena see what was going on in her name. Not a single person… save for a young hedgehog named Slipstream. Wanting to win a bet that he couldn’t kidnap the princess with his friend Harold (though Harold wouldn’t admit later on), Slipstream slipped through the castle to take the rowdy princess on an adventure that she’ll never forget. Aleena, at first, was not on board with it; trying to fight Slipstream and Harold as all three escaped Avarice’s clutches. As they got further away and Aleena got to see more of the world, Aleena started to see Slipstream and Harold as full pledge friends, eventually calming down.

Aleena and Slipstream had fallen in love over their adventures together, before Avarice’s army eventually found them and brought them back to try Slipstream. With the newfound knowledge of the world and the people in it, Aleena tells Avarice to stop with the execution, as Slipstream helped her become a better person than being in the castle ever could have. Avarice complied with his daughter’s wishes, allowing Slipstream to go on the condition that he’d never take Aleena from him again. Slipstream, on the other hand, could not comply to this, as he and Aleena ended up having sex. Avarice was furious with this news, and found after that Aleena was carrying triplets.

The two were quickly wed within four months after that news, in the fear that people would notice Aleena carrying children out of wedlock, and Aleena and Slipstream lived happily ever after.
