She is the main reason the series begins

She is probably "THE" antagonist. At least for the first arc of the story. A manipulative princess who made the protagonists's life miserable from day 1, with a false rape accusation and religious bias against the "shield hero", who is the protagonist who just got teleported into this world. This story is basically the reversal of the classic isekai "transported to another world" trope, where the protagonist is a regular guy from our world, who get summoned to a fantasy world as a hero to save the world. This time around 4 hero is summoned, but the protagonist is hated from the start even tho he is there to save their world (and as the story progresses it turns out he is the only one capable enough to do so, albeit not alone).
In short, whenever this bitch appears in the show, she does something utterly disgusting, not just to the hero, but to everybody she can use as a tool.

I've not read the story, but I'm too curious now - spoil me the details - I assume she's an antagonist? What did she do and what was her comeuppance?

she stole everything from the shield hero when he was just a beginner, and also falsely accused him of rape -- and things just kept escalating from there. the ostracized shield hero fought all the way back until he was able to prove Malty was lying, and as a punishment, by royal decree, they had her name changed to "Bitch" and "Whore"Β
