Well, to be fair...
I haven't really seen fan art or even fanfiction of Poo actually showing signs of having any romantic interest in Paula. If it's pooxpaula fanfiction specifically, Paula shows signs of a crush. It's never poo.
Jeff needs whoever the fuzzy pickles he can get, as hilarious as it is...
and Ness... Well, Ness doesn't really have a reason, but hey, Paula isn't ugly. And either way, Ness is portrayed as a normal boy and Paula as a normal girl (both with the addition of psychic powers), so it fits. and whether you like it or not, NessXPaula is canonical. From the lyrics of smiles and tears to Paula and (spoilers) her lengthy goodbyes, there is so much undeniable evidence towards it.
