Experiences in the Solar System and the inner sphere of colonies suggested that space elevator - or so called beanstalk - designs, while easy to construct and easy to maintain, had limited annual lifting capabilities or were not safely traversable by unshielded humans. So, while beanstalks remained a prevalent design for industrial applications, Lofstrom loops and orbital ring-attached tendril systems became the main way humans got to and from Low Planetary Orbits."
