Dark Flame is known as Gale City's "Protector of the Children", as many of her notable appearances have been in the aid of children and teens. Though shying from the public eye, her few public appearances have been to speak against domestic violence and child abuse. Though initially working independently, she has been seen more frequently teaming with other Gale superheroes, including The Black Torrent. Although increasingly present on the crime-fighting scene, The Dark Flame is still classified as a "Part-Time" hero by the police, due to her regular periods of inactivity.
