Description
I have no idea if any of the other members have done stuff like this (probably have though), but Harry cried because people were saying shit about him over the internet and apparently Niell cried because a group of girls said he shouldn't be in One Direction. That's pretty pathetic if I'm honest.
People in the music industry have to face the remarks they get, it's a dog eat dog world. If you're so easily brought down by what people you don't even know say then may I suggest you stop being such a pathetic bastard and toughen up or get out of it?
Hopefully they'll toughen up, if they're still around after a few years, usually bands like them are forgotten once the X Factor gets another bunch of bubble gum boyband sods.

What's worse is that they're all about 18 years old and haven't learned this.

I don't care for their music, but I really don't see why it's so horrible. And just because you don't like a person's music doesn't mean they're horrible and you should insult them. But it happens anyway. Just get over it.

I have a feeling you probably read none of the description so I'll explain.
It's their attitude that I don't like and that's what makes me think badly of them, the music industry is a very harsh one and people will speak badly of you and your music regardless of the reasons behind their comments, it's expected and they should get out if they can only cry about it. I don't like their music either, just as I don't like a lot of bands, but unlike 1D if those said bands have members that are okay people with good attitudes towards criticism and handle things with maturity then I have nothing to say about them except "I don't like the music but I've got nothing against the band as people".

I get it, but I had an epiphany: complaining about it gets us nowhere, so really all we can do is wait 'til they go out of style. I read the description fully, and I get what you're saying, but I'm a bit tired of people cutting down others and personally insulting them for their music. You didn't do that, and they really were immature, but I was all over the internet that day.

True, I could have phrased things a bit better and I completely understand what you're saying.
But, it just angers me as a musician that people want into the music industry but are ignorant towards the negatives that come with it then they proceed to cry about it. People won't always be nice about what they think about your music, jokes will be made, and it's not always fair, but that's just the way it is, just like what's in the charts you can't change those negatives. All you can really do is just ignore the immature comments, have a sensible attitude towards criticism, and just continue with your music.

They sound exactly like the bubblegum boy band bullshit I grew up with. And by that I mean "Backstreet Boys" and "NSync." I don't understand why they're so popular.

I think it's because a lot of their fans are hormonal teenage girls who crave eye candy, and One Direction is just that to them.

Aren't they ugly pop-rock band singing shit about love? I don't know them, but heard a lot.
Well, yeah, I heard much worse things and didn't cry.

ArgonSelenium In reply to neonparrot [2012-09-05 17:12:35 +0000 UTC]
They're pop I think, and yes, they do sing about that stuff and the worst part is it isn't even good plus they don't even write any of it.
I think most people have, if you're 18 or whatever and you're crying over trivial and childish bullshit then you really need to grow some balls or retire from the music industry.

Never heard about anything called "One Direction". Is it a new band of random kids supposed to be singers? Dude, there is millions of them, and I'm suppose they all cry all the time, they're only kids...

They've been around for quite a while now and they're all 18 or over I think, which should be old enough to know that people will not always be nice to you and that people will "pick on you". It would be forgivable of they were 14 or there abouts, but if you're that age crying over people saying pety things like you shouldn't be in a band, calling you "Harry Shits" or saying that you're gay then you really need to toughen up a bit.

I don't know dude, 18 years old have always seems really childish to me... But that's probably just because I'm an old fool

ArgonSelenium In reply to Nacht-Vico [2012-09-06 19:09:55 +0000 UTC]
The people that I know who are around about that age really don't care because being called stuff like that isn't worth it because it's childish, but with the amount of adults I've seen acting like 5 year olds I wouldn't be surprised if you have met really immature 18 year olds.

Exactly. This is why musicians should work for their fame instead of just being picked on a talent show for their looks.

MangoNigger In reply to ArgonSelenium [2012-09-03 04:58:13 +0000 UTC]
This exact statement right here.
If you've got a good voice and a good/uncaring attitude to criticism, that tops looking hot in a band ANY day.

ArgonSelenium In reply to MangoNigger [2012-09-03 20:53:13 +0000 UTC]
Usually musicians who can't take criticism but tried to work for their fame quit early in trying to make a name for themselves.
I mean don't get me wrong, you can be good looking and talented, but it's annoying to see people build their musical career on their looks. We have industries that focus on a person's looks that don't require talent to be apart of, why not just get a career in that?

Honey, if you haven't noticed freedom of speech is a right and I can excersise it if I please, now please stop using such weak arguments such as "get a job/life/etc." and accept that people will not always be kind about what they don't like
